Trauma and PTSD
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop following a traumatic event where it may leave you feeling helpless.
Traumas themselves are not usually forgotten. They are kind of hidden until the next trigger causes all the associated feelings to resurface. Many conditions such as birth issues, accidents, operations, illness and stress have their origins in physical or emotional trauma.
However it is only when our resources1 are overwhelmed that we can become traumatised. (Referred to as PTSD, i.e. feeling trapped or have a sense of un-ease).
Depending on how we deal with traumatic events depends on their effects within our body. If we find such events overwhelming, they can become locked in our body. Our system becomes frozen and immobilised until we are able to access the resources needed, to allow them to be processed and released. If we feel trapped, worn out or spiralling out of control that is an indication that we ‘think’ there are no resources to hold us ‘together.’ I have heard this likened to "feeling like the accelerator and the brakes are on at the same time."

At Bodi Wellness the focus is on providing a supportive environment to encourage the process and natural release of places of un-ease.
This is helped by using Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) focusing on the central nervous system and may also include Neuro Linguistic Programming tools to reframe an event. Using Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy means sessions are more focused on the story your body is telling us, without talking in detail or the need for counselling.
